Punch Card Love Letters...

Yes or No?
You keep me in tow.
I just want to know,
If you want me?

I live this life,
And try to do right.
I just want to know,
If you need me?

I cant, get passed,
This aching gash,
Why wont you stay,
And just please me?

We both know In right,
So come home tonight.
Do it now or,
Release me.

pickRset

PickRset, a new website that connects the fans directly to the bands. This site is really pretty cool, it allows you find your favorite bands and help choose set lists for their shows. You can also buy merch from them as well as tickets to upcoming gigs.

Here is my pickRset page as an example.

Good stuff.

Screw computer sequencing

I am a HUGE Ableton LIVE fan. Matter of fact I refuse to write in any other DAW now. It is for me, the end all-be all for creating electronic music. Although I cant live without this software now I often times miss the days of hardware sequencing.

For years I avoided the computer sequencing software revolution and stuck to my Alesis MMT-8 This sequencer was so solid and so tight. There really wasnt anything I couldnt do with it. Pushing and pulling tracks on the fly was a breeze and made build ups in songs so easy. Its simplicity made you think beyond the box and it forced you to experiment to get the results you wanted. Once you got to know it though it really was the best thing going.

You used to be able to find them in pawn shops all over with prices ranging from $50-$150 depending on the condition of the unit. The buttons on it often times needed to have their contacts replaced but this was easy to do.

One day Ill reconstruct my hardware studio in full and return to the glory of the MMT-8. Shit, maybe Ill do that sooner than later if only because playing live gigs would be so much fun rocking one of those. I once saw Autechre play live and they were using two on stage. I was impressed that they were using the same sequencer as I was.

Datascraper absorbs Portland

In light of my putting the "Portland" project to bed, I will be absorbing the last few "new" PDX tracks. I will be releasing them as Datascraper.

This also allows me to continue writing with the same edge that the PDX project afforded me.

Hopefully this doesnt ruffle too many feathers although I dont think it will.

:)

Cheers.

Dont steal from me!!!

Ok kids I have finally decided to rant about this whole downloading/internet theft thing in regards to my music.

I know that there are going to be people who download the music I write. There is nothing I can do about that and I accept it. So if you are going to steal my music that is fine, whatever. I wish you didnt but there is nothing I can do.

What i DO have a problem with is websites CHARGING for my music when neither I nor my respective labels see a dime from those downloads. Dont steal our money. Thats fucked up. If you are going to PAY for a download of my music, why not spend the measly $9.00 or whatever for it at places that I support and support me? Fuck those russian and ukrainian websites that are charging for my music illegally. They say on their websites that they are in full compliance with copyright laws but that means that they are only in compliance with copyright laws in their countries. Them making money off of something I did is just fucking wrong.

Look, there are a ton of artists doing what I am doing to varying degrees of success around the world. Some better than others. I understand that someone somewhere wants my music and will goto a download site to get it. Thats fine, steal the music but please... PLEASE DO NOT GIVE MONEY TO WEBSITES FOR MY MUSIC THAT IS NOT AFFILIATED WITH ME! I do not see one red cent from these sites.

So in essence, if you want my music but you dont want to pay for it, go ahead and steal it. But please do not support these sites that are charging for my release that I have nothing to do with. You can figure out what websites these are by the way the addresses to the websites end. For example the russian sites end in ".ru" and the ukrainian ones seem legit often times containing a ".com" or a ".org" but immediately following that there will be a ".ua".

Support the artists you like however you like, but please do not give money to a group of people that have had nothing to do with the creative process and only exist to profit off our hard work.

Cheers.
